Throgh the Eyes of a Fan - EIU & SIUe

On Thursday the Racers played host to the Eastern Illinois Panthers, last year the Racers put a beat down on the Panthers twice, once was at EIU where the Racers did not need to score in the second half to win the game, the other at home was not as impressive but the Racers ended up winning by 15.

I guess I have always wanted to look past EIU because it seems that the Racers always come out on top. But this game scared me from the start. It seemed to be closer then it should have, and the Racers could not pull away, but time after time this season they pulled away in the second half and scored 45 points, just 4 shy of the total points for EIU. I do not know if I was in a bad mood, feeling under the weather, but I just could not get excited or fired up for this game, although I did get excited when it starting to hail 3's inside the bank! 6/6 from any where on the court should get the fans up and jumping around. In the end the good guys came out on top.

Saturday was Pink Out at the bank with SIUe, 5,101 fans came to the game, more then 1,000 over what SIUe's home arena the Vadalabene Center seats. From the tip the game had an EIU feel to it, it was way too close than what it should have been. Then, the Cougars started to pull away and the Racers could not buy, rent, or pawn a basket. With SIUe leading by 11 at the half, once again I found myself wishing beer was sold. I was starting to think that when OVC teams play Murray State it is their Super Bowl, even road teams seem to want to beat Murray more than any other school in the OVC. But just like with the EIU game and all but three other games before it the Racers got red hot and closed the gap and ended up sending the cougars and their fans back to Edwardsville with their tall between their tall between their legs.

I might make the trip to Jacksonville State this weekend, I might also go to Morehead if the Racers win the next 7 games, and that could be the programs 1,500 win!
