Murray State Improves to 41-3 overall vs. UT-Martin

                            1     2       Final
Murray State    33   40       73
UT-Martin        19    43       62

If you managed to keep your eyes open for the final 10 minutes of last nights game, then God bless you. The Racer starters sat out a majority of the second half and watched the new group of Freshmen allow a 20+ lead to get cut to 10. With the opponent being UT-Martin the game never felt in jeopardy but it made the final quarter of the game devastatingly boring to watch.

Now for some notes on the game

Stacey Wilson shot 6 of 9 from the field making him the second leading scorer with 16. However, his three point shooting woes continued. After making his first triple to extend the lead to 14, he failed to connect on his next three attempts, finishing 1-4 from behind the arc. He is now shooting 10 of 54 from three since leaving Charleston. That's under 19%.

Isaiah Canaan performed well in front of 4 NBA scouts that included the Jazz, 76ers, Spurs and Knicks. The way he is able to split the double team and maneuver his way to the basket, is one of the reasons he is getting so much attention from the league, that and his long range shooting. His fade away three pointer in the second half tied the Murray State record for most threes. He is now tied with Frank Allen at 251 and will most likely pass Allen on Saturday at SEMO. Canaan finished with 18 points 6 of 8 from the field and played only 16 minutes even with UT-Martin players constantly trying to deny him the ball. Demarc Richardson, of UT-Martin picked up 4 fouls while trying to face guard Isaiah

Murray State's only 3 losses to UT-Martin came on the road, the last coming in 2009. Murray State picked up their first OVC win of the season in their first try. It's always nice to get in conference road wins especially in an environment that was about as intimidating as a daycare. Of the 3,557 in attendance (that seems generous) was a strong contingency of Murray State fans. Chants of "Let's Go Racers!" filled the soon to be renovated, Elam Center. Or has it already gone through renovations?

The game was kind of a bore in the second half, other than a handful of moments and Latreze Mushatt's season debut, there wasn't much to see. Yet, the writer of the article posted on ESPN's recap obviously couldn't pay attention long enough to see who UT-Martin was playing.

My apologies to the  people who called in. Next time we may answer some more phone calls but with it being our first show we wanted to keep it as simple as possible. BTW, I don't think Zay Henderson is nonathletic, I just think he LOOKS nonathletic.

Murray State will get set to play SEMO tomorrow at 5 CT. The game will be televised on ESPNU. As always, Go Racers!

  1. SEMO will beat Murray State if they play like this. With the game being on ESPNU expect a loud crowd from Southeast Missouri fans.
