What To Expect From Team USA

The USA basketball roster was released Sunday and will have even higher expectations than the 2008 team, with notable exceptions. Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and Dwight Howard will not be returning to this year’s Dream Team. The 2012 roster is as follows:

LeBron James
Carmelo Anthony
Kobe Bryant
Tyson Chandler
Kevin Durant
Blake Griffin
James Harden
Andre Iguodala
Kevin Love
Chris Paul
Russell Westbrook
Deron Williams

The immediate reaction to this list is the number of versatile players. 7 out of 12 players virtually play the same position. There includes no natural center, but rather a plethora of forwards, which should make for a very entertaining and high flying Olympics in London.

Look to see LeBron, Carmelo, Kobe, Griffin, and Durant all flying around the basket, filling up highlight reels and decimating opponent teams. Does any team even stand a chance? Will any team be able to get within 30 points of Team USA?

Highly doubtful.

With Chris Paul and Deron Williams manning the point guard position, Team USA should have a free ride into the Gold Medal game in August. Anything but a Gold would be cataclysmic and laughable. This much talent and athleticism should be a crime on the hardwood.

The Summer Olympics begin July 27 and end  August 12.
