Recruit Profile: Zabius Henderson

Continuing with our weekly recruit profile, I finally get the opportunity to write about a recruit that I have actually seen play in person.

At the open scrimmage I noticed Zabius as the tall and long-armed center reminding one of Tony Easley in a way. Although he isn't listed as tall as Easley, Zabius has about 25 pounds on the former Murray State Big Man.

If you read the open scrimmage notes, I mentioned Zabius seemed quicker than he looked. He made cuts to the basket , he executed pick and rolls nicely and he came up with a few blocks. From what I have seen Zabius will not be one of our strongest scoring threats, although I did see him hit a few mid-range jumpers. What he will be is a strong presence at the rim and being an overall defensive specialists with his long arms.

Henderson averaged 3 blocks a game last year for Neville High School and also averaged 10 rebounds a game. A surprising stat is that Zabius averaged nearly 11 points per game.

Although his minutes may be limited at the start of this upcoming season, I look for Henderson to get some playing time when starters get into foul trouble or if we're playing a team full of bigs, in which case the Racers could use Henderson's inside presence.
