Terron Gilmore is another strong addition to Steve Prohm's stellar 2012 class. The 6'6" 185 pound small forward has long arms that allows him to get shots off whenever he wants and has the athleticism to blow by defenders. He has the ability to score the basketball with either hand and according to scouts is consistent up to 15 feet out.
His senior year at Callaway High School (he'll feel right at home here in Calloway County) Gilmore averaged almost 11 points a game to go along with almost 6 boards a game. He is ranked 162nd nationally but according to Maxpreps, he's the best player to come out of Mississippi this year.
With his long wing span look for Gilmore to swat away opponents shots and what I would like to see is a forward who can come in this year and provide quality minutes with a strong defensive presence. In losing Jewaun Long, the Racers lost their best defender. Not saying any of the returning guys can't fill the void but it will be nice to have someone who can come off the bench to get Murray State some stops. Someone like, Gilmore has the athleticism, height and wingspan to shut down like, lets say Robert Covington of TSU.
Terron may not get a ton of minutes right away, I'm sure. However, he will become a huge factor in Murray State's success down the road.
He also has the most entertaining highlight reel video I have seen so far
