My thoughts on the OVC Media Day

The OVC had their annual media day this week. OVC Sports Information Directors and media voted on their top players and predicted the finish for this upcoming OVC football season.

EKU stole the headlines with 10 players being named to the OVC preseason team, but Murray State and SEMO have the two best players.

My thoughts are at the bottom of the page, after all of the headlines.

OVC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year: Casey Brockman (Murray State)
OVC Preseason Defensive Play of the Year: Blake Peiffer (Southeast Missouri State)

Murray State managed to get three players on the OVC Preseason team, but Eastern Kentucky led the way with 10 players being named to the team.

4.  Tennessee Tech - 83

The OVC SID's and media did a great job of predicting whose going to win the OVC this year.

In my mind, Eastern Kentucky is playing for a National Championship this year. They had 10 guys named to the OVC Preseason team. That's a rarity, when it comes to football or any sport for that matter. You have to be a pretty good team to have ten guys named to the OVC Preseason team.

Some of Racer Nation are whining about Jacksonville State being ahead of Murray State in the predictions. MSU is ranked higher, but news flash, Jacksonville State has been a top tier OVC football team for years. Murray State has not, and is just now starting to win again. In my mind, it will be hard to beat Jacksonville State this year since we are on the road. The Racers will have to earn it by winning games. After all, it's the final record that only matters.

The Racers also have questions at the running back spot. Murray State may have the best quarterback in the FCS but in the end, there's more players than just the quarterback. If the Racers can't run the ball efficiently, then the Racers may struggle at times.

In the end, this is Murray State chance to say that their better than Jacksonville State. There's always a chance that the Racers win in Richmond against EKU and take the OVC title, but you can't predict something like that.

In other news, Murray State may be adding three FBS transfers this week. There's no news on who this may be, only time will tell.

Get ready for some football Racer Nation, the Racers take the field in just 38 days, when they take on Florida State. College football is almost back!
