Recruit Profile: Erik McCree

Committing to the Racers back in September, Erik McCree became arguably the biggest recruit Steve Prohm has snagged so far. The 6-7 210 pound forward from West Orange High School in Florida, has the ability to make an immediate impact next year in a Racer uniform. Last year for West Orange he averaged 18.1 points per game and nearly 7 rebounds a game. ESPN has McCree ranked near the top 50 nationally and 15th in his state.

In an interview with Recruitingnationwide.com, McCree said that while at Murray State he hopes to "win multiple conference Championships and make a run in the NCAA tournament. That's why I chose to go there." He also acknowledged the history of Racer basketball being a big part in his decision to attend the school.

Murray State's front court took a big hit with the loss of Ivan Aska graduating but with McCree, Steve Prohm will now have the option of going with a smaller, quicker line-up with forwards McCree, Mushatt, Garret and  of course Ed Daniels replacing the Center and power foward positions.

McCree will have a height advantage over some small forwards in the OVC and the lefties outside shooting isn't anything to frown about. Check out the video below to see McCree's 36 point game in a huge match-up versus Lake Highland. (Orange Jersey #3)
