Racer Nation Meet RJ Curington Class of 2013

Coach Steve Prohm is going after some serious talent for the 2013 class and has just added Oak Hill shooting guard RJ Curington to a list of players getting offers from Murray State. The 6-5 Curington is rated a three star by and already has offers from UNC, Indiana, NC State, Florida and many others. However, Murray State has something to offer those schools do not: the opportunity to play as a Freshman and be the best player on the floor any given night. If he were to choose Murray State, he would be playing in a conference where he could showcase his skills and with the departure of Isaiah Canaan, he could easily end up being the go-to guy for the Racers in the 2013-2014 season.

Prohm has already offered a pair of 4-star and a pair of 3-star recruits, including 15th ranked point guard Rashawn Powell from Florida. And why not? If Murray wants to take the next step they must get out of this settling for two-star athlete attitude and compete with bigger schools for recruits. Murray State has had success in the OVC by taking in decent players and grooming them into better ball players but if Prohm can land a few of these guys for 2013, Murray State's goals may be a little bigger than a Sweet 16 somewhere in the near future.

  1. This kid RJC has serious game. Solid all-around game. Read he led powerhouse #1 Oak Hill with highest 3pt avg., as well as honor student. When I watch this video, am not looking at a 3 star - not even! Hope we can secure him.
