Ivan Aska Playing for the Virgin Islands

Ivan Aska college basketball career ended in March but he’s not done playing basketball yet. The Virgin Islands asked Aska to play for them in the 2012 Centrobasket tournament.
The 2012 Centrobasket tournament will be played in San Juan, Puerto Rico with seven other countries. The seven countries joining the Virgin Islands in 2012 include Jamaica, Costa Rica, Cuba, Bahamas, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Panama.

Aska was a part of Murray State’s winningest senior class in history. During Aska’s career at Murray State, he averaged 9.7 points, 5.4 rebounds per game, and shot 51.6% from the field. During Aska senior season, he averaged 10.6 points and 6 rebounds per game.

Five Americans will join Aska on the Virgin Island team, Raja Bell of the Utah Jazz, Aaron Brown of Temple, Phil Jones of Brussels, and Gregory Washington of Hofstra. Players from seven other countries are also on the squad. The last Centrobasket tournament was played in 2009 where the Virgin Island lost all four games they played.
